3Good tool with limitsJun 23, 2012
By Roy N Morioka
The tool is a replication of one made by Mallory and priced right. However, along with price comes the absence of a thrust bearing and instructions on how to use. Assumes that most will have watched the Mallory YouTube video. Written instructions with diagrams would be a plus. Additionally, this is a great tool when water especially saltwater has NOT entered the bellows and severely corroded the gimbal bearing and fused it to the gimbal housing. A 10# slide hammer with violent smashes was needed to pull the bearing free in my case.

5This tool an absolute MUSTJan 13, 2013

I owned a small marine repair shop for about 10 yrs & we were using a slide hammer to remove gimble bearings. I felt I could'nt justify the cost of mercs version of this tool. I'm glad I found this one here, for the price this tool is worth it's weight in gold. I can't imagine pulling a gimble bearing without it! Twin engine boat, r&r both bearings 30 minutes if that. Thanks
